Volume Rendering of High Resolution Medical Data

Quality of medical imaging devices advances rapidly and resolution of medical data increases with it. CT angiography datasets nowadays have resolutions of 515 x 512 x 900 voxels or even more. Medical image resolution is expected to grow to 1024 x 1024 pixels in the short term. The aim of this Thesis is to develop a high quality compression and visualization algorithm on PC-GPUs for high resolution volume data. High Dynamic Range visualization techniques are to be combined with Wavelet compression in order to obtain high quality volume rendering of current and upcoming high resolution medical data.
